HALF FULL is a documentary film about a woman with a rare genetic disorder that causes her to want to continue eating and eating. Since she is unable to control her drive towards food, she can never be left alone with anything edible. Her parents share their journey through navigating her complicated care and their desire to keep their daughter from being institutionalized. Julia, 26, was born with Prader-Willi Syndrome which is a biological problem that causes a her to have an insatiable appetite, behavioral problems, and obsessive-compulsive behavior. She’s at risk of choking from eating too fast or rupturing her stomach from eating too much at once. She often steals food and has even be caught eating out of the garbage when food is restricted. Her parents, Jeff and Jacki, have tried for years to help her live independently with a full-time caregiver but she is gaining weight and running away in search of food. Jacki and Jeff share with viewers their experience of raising a child with special needs and how it changed their marriage and the trajectory of their lives.
