Reel Feminism – Monday March 16th, 7pm – The Clinton Street Theater

In March, we are partnering with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon to bring you a special screening of OBVIOUS CHILD, directed by Gillian Robespierre.

A117_C002_0418MHFor aspiring comedian Donna Stern, everyday life as a female twenty-something provides ample material for her hysterical and relatable brand of humor. On stage, Donna is unapologetically herself, joking about topics as intimate as her sex life and as crude as her day-old underwear. But when Donna winds up unexpectedly pregnant after a one-night stand, she is forced to face the uncomfortable realities of independent womanhood for the first time. Donna’s drunken hookup – and epic lapse in prophylactic judgment – turns out to be the beginning of a hilarious and totally unplanned journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Tickets are available online for $8 or at the door for a suggested donation of $5-$10.  Any amount over $5 for each ticket will go directly to Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon. Doors open at 6:30pm and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds

The goal of POWFest is to eliminate the gender disparity that exists for women directors and to create opportunities for women throughout the film industry. The festival has featured accomplished directors, as well as dynamic young & up-and-coming directors, some from Portland´s burgeoning film industry. POWFest is dedicated to promoting and creating professional development and networking opportunities for women filmmakers of every discipline and skill-set/level. Beyond filmmaker participation, we are also dedicated to bringing to Portland programming that is thought-provoking and will engage the audience well beyond the theater.

POWFest—The Power of Women in Film.
