We are always in need of volunteers to help up with fundraisers, get the word out, and in general, keep this project afloat. POW Fest is currently seeking volunteers and/or student interns for support in operations and coordination of the 2008 Portland Women’s Film Festival (a.k.a. POW Fest) and promotional/fundraising events during and leading up to the festival. Volunteer positions include:
ONLINE PR
• Maintain a strong online presence for POW Fest, including posting on message boards, schedules of events, blogs, developing a festival MySpace page, and answering email questions through these channels.
WEB DESIGN
• Help design, develop and maintain the POW Fest website
ADMINISTRATIVE
• Assist w/ the development of a comprehensive organizational system for festival’s always-changing email group; development of a database to house SAP contact, email, and demographic information; sending email blasts.
• Processing, filing, and updating the status of festival submissions.
PR/COPY EDITOR VOLUNTEER
• Assist in drafting and copyediting email blasts, press releases, surveys, letters to potential sponsors, and web copy
• Copyedit PR materials written by the Managing Director and Executive Director
• Copyedit print and radio ad material
RESEARCH
• Researching print, online, television, radio and alternative avenues of marketing the festival, including advertising rates for different magazines, websites, etc.
• Research events and films occurring at other national and international festivals
• Research grant opportunities for future years
• Creating a comprehensive list of local/regional media outlets
MARKETING
• Develop effective marketing campaigns to reach our target demographic, including promotional events.
• Distributing promotional materials, such as handbills, posters, and programs.
